This is a post for anyone who lives anywhere near Houston, Texas.
Our daughter, Jac, lives in a nice neighborhood on the outskirts of Houston, but not far from her is a development that suffered the housing crisis . . . with a lot of abandoned homes. Sadly, abandoned homes correlate to abandoned animals.
Jac and her husband, Paul, have been caring a few of the abandoned cats. One of them is still a bit wild, and so far, he's preferred to live outside. His name is Rufus.
Yesterday morning, Jac heard some noise, and she found two hungry, abandoned puppies outside her house attempting to eat Rufus's food.
The pups are about nine weeks old, a husky/shepherd mix with bright blue eyes. Jac manages a vet clinic and she is a very good person. So . . . she scooped up said puppies and took them into the clinic. The doctor she works for is also very nice, and Dr "O" gave both pups an examination. Besides being dirty and hungry, she found them in good health.
The puppies have now received all their vaccines, "professional" baths, and worm medication. The crew at the vet clinic named them Vinnie and Violet. I would love to fly to Houston and bring Miss Violet home to stay, but our two elderly cats would object strenuously.
Here is a shot of Violet:
And here is Vinnie:
If anyone near Houston can take a puppy, Jac says they both have a clean bill of health, and they are very sweet and friendly.

Hi Debbie,
Yes, I think they are lucky too.

But I have good news! Both the puppies in my post above had found homes as of last night. Violet went with a nice family who had recently lost a long-term dog, and Vinnie went with a young couple.
Jac was hoping to keep them together, but it's difficult to find someone able to take two puppies who will each weigh 70 pounds when they are grown.
I'm really happy they both found homes.

I dont mind the feral cats here, they take care of the mole/vole issues, but, I wish they wouldnt hunt the birds. They catch one every now and then.
